Saginaw Spirit News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - The Saginaw Spirit (3-2-1-0 7pts) finishes up a three-game road trip Saturday evening against the Erie Otters (1-3-0-0 2pts). Puck drop will be at 7:00 pm at Erie Insurance Arena. Saginaw looks to go undefeated on their current road trip after defeating the CHL's no. 10 ranked Kitchener Rangers Friday evening in overtime and the Flint Firebirds Wednesday, 6-2.
New York Islanders' draft pick Bode Wilde turned in a first star performance with a goal and an assist in the victory over Kitchener. The Plymouth, Michigan native has been fantastic for The Spirit early in the season, contributing two goals and seven points in his first five OHL games.
The Spirit were aided by a good goaltending performance from Cameron Lamour. Lamour made 29 saves in the effort, with big saves in overtime, which kept Saginaw in the game.
With 1:41 left in overtime, overager Albert Michnac made an incredible individual effort skating to the left faceoff circle and beating the Kitchener goaltender top-shelf giving The Spirit the 4-3 overtime victory.
The Spirit split with the Otters on the road last season but they took the season series 3-1-0-0. New York Islanders' prospect Blade Jenkins has been very good against Erie in his career scoring two goals and three assists in four games. The Jackson, Michigan native is currently on a point per game pace early in the season.
Saturday evening's game in Erie concludes Saginaw's road trip. Fans can listen to all the action at 6:45 p.m. on FM Talk and Sports 100.5 and fmtalk1005.com with Joey Battaino and Dennis Desrosiers on the call.
