
Colorado Signs DaSilva, Love

Lowell, MA - The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the organization has signed a pair of free agents, forward Daniel DaSilva and defenseman Mitch Love. The two competed in training camp with the Lock Monsters and have been assigned to Lowell.
Both rookies, DaSilva skates on the right wing and turns pro after playing the last three years with the Portland Winter Hawks in the junior ranks of the Western Hockey League. The Saskatoon native scored over 30 goals in each of the last two seasons, and led the Winter Hawks in goals (31), assists (42) and points (73) a season ago. He also finished 5th in penalty minutes with 127. DaSilva, 20, led Portland in goals two seasons ago as well, when he potted 36, and finished second on the team in points.
Love, 21, also played in the WHL, finishing in Everett last season when he recorded 29 points in 59 games and added 142 penalty minutes, which led the team. He was the second-highest point scorer among defensemen on the team. The Quesnel, BC native racked up over 900 penalty minutes in five seasons in the WHL, including a 327-PIM season in 2002-03 with Swift Current.
