
Rivermen's Sejna named CCM Vector AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Peoria Rivermen left wing Peter Sejna has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending October 9, 2005. In three games, Sejna scored four goals and added three assists as the Rivermen began their inaugural AHL season with a 3-0-0-0 record.
Sejna assisted on Peoria's first-ever AHL goal, then scored two of his own as the Rivermen posted a 5-4 win at Iowa on Thursday night. He came back with two more goals and another assist in a 4-3 win over Manitoba on Friday, and finished the week with another assist in Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Moose. Three of Sejna's goals on the week came on the power play.
In recognition of his achievement, Sejna will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Rivermen home game.
A native of Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia, Sejna is in his third professional season in 2005-06. He has compiled 33 goals and 53 assists for 86 points in 126 AHL games with Peoria and Worcester. Sejna signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Blues after three standout seasons at Colorado College, which culminated in his earning the 2003 Hobey Baker Award as the outstanding player in U.S. collegiate hockey. Sejna, who turned 26 last week, has skated in 21 career NHL games with the Blues, recording three goals and two assists.

Umberger, Portland center Ryan Shannon, Rochester center Derek Roy, San Antonio right wing Randall Gelech, Springfield right wing Evgeny Artyukhin, Syracuse center Andrew Murray and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton center Erik Christensen.
