Colorado Rapids Unveil New 2020 Primary Kit at FORWARD25 Event

The Colorado Rapids unveiled today their new kit ahead of the 2020 Major League Soccer season. Featuring a burgundy colorway with sky blue accents, "The Nine Six" jersey commemorates the Rapids' 25th season as one of the league's founding clubs. Fans can pre-order the new jersey online via MLSstore.com starting today.

"The Nine Six celebrates an important milestone in our club's history," said Wayne Brant, Colorado Rapids Sr. Vice President of Business Operations. "Twenty-five years ago, the groundwork was laid for the growth of this sport with the development of our league, and in the years since, we've been gifted with some unforgettable moments. We're excited to kick off the 2020 season with the launch of our new kit and look forward to announcing the full list of 25th season celebrations soon."

Named after the Rapids' inaugural 1996 season, "The Nine Six" was unveiled along with the full 2020 MLS kit collection as part of the league's FORWARD25 event ahead of New York Fashion Week. The Rapids enlisted the help of Scott Stephens, a forward for the Colorado Rapids Special Olympics Unified Soccer team, to unveil their new jersey at the event alongside celebrities like DeAndre Hopkins, Ninja and Majid Jordan.

"The Nine Six" jersey features the iconic 3-stripe adidas EQT (equipment) designs, which first debuted in the 1990s when MLS was formed and have been brought back for the league's all-new, 26-team collection. Unique to The Nine Six is a Colorado State flag jock tag and its iconic "C" as an appliqué at the back neck. The jersey also honors the club's history as an MLS original with a silver, nine-star 'Founding Club' mark that is only featured on the Authentic jerseys of the nine MLS founding clubs.

The Rapids will debut their new kit at their home opener on Saturday, March 7, at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park against Orlando City SC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM MT and tickets are available through AltitudeTickets.com.
