Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The Colorado Rapids announced today that the club has formed a multi-year partnership with Budweiser that includes entitlement to Budweiser Eighteen76, a soccer fans bar and restaurant at the south end of Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The name Budweiser Eighteen76 references the year 1876, when Budweiser was first brewed in America and also when Colorado became the 38th state in the Union. Budweiser Eighteen76 replaces the bar called the "Cantina" that had occupied the space since the opening of the Park in 2007.
The new Budweiser Eighteen76 will feature updated decorations, including a soccer fans "scarf wall" where fans are encouraged to donate a scarf from soccer clubs around the world in exchange for a pint of their favorite beverage. The bar will also receive a visit from the Rapids Man of the Match after each home game, with the player signing autographs, taking photos and interacting with fans. A great selection of menu options from burgers and sandwiches to wings and salads are available as well.
"We're thrilled to team up with Budweiser, especially since this partnership directly benefits our supporters and all Rapids fans," said Rapids President Tim Hinchey. "Budweiser Eighteen76 will be a unique and authentic gathering place for soccer fans, and gives people a chance to meet Rapids players after games. It's an honor to welcome a world-class brand like Budweiser, who has shown great passion for soccer, to the Rapids and Dick's Sporting Goods Park."
"Budweiser is a long-time supporter of soccer, and we're excited to join with the Colorado Rapids and help amplify the game day experience for some of their biggest fans," said Blaise D'Sylva, vice president of media, sports and entertainment marketing, Anheuser-Busch. "The new Budweiser Eighteen76 bar and restaurant will provide the perfect meeting place for fans and players, and we're looking forward to joining them to toast each Rapids victory with a cold Budweiser."
Budweiser Eighteen76 will also feature music provided by the Global DJ Academy after matches, with Rapids mascots Edson and Franz mingling with fans and families. The plaza outside Budweiser Eighteen76 will be expanded to include the Budweiser Build-a-Bar (at select games), equipped with televisions, bar stools and taps to better serve Rapids fans. Fans 21 and older can also play Poolball, a game on an oversized pool table with mini soccer balls and combining the rules of pool with your soccer skills.
The updates to Budweiser Eighteen76 will be made over the course of the next several weeks. Eighteen76 will typically open two hours prior to the start of an event.
