San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski was among 20 players named to the AT&T MLS All-Star gameday roster on Monday. The All-Stars will face AS Roma in the 2013 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 31 at Sporting Park (6 p.m. PT / ESPN2, UniMas).
Wondolowski, 30, leads the Earthquakes with five goals and is second on the club with three assists. Three of his goals were game winners. He is currently in camp with the U.S. Men's National Team for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Wondolowski has scored five goals in two Gold Cup games so far, becoming the first U.S. Men's National Team player to score five in the tournament. This year marks his third-consecutive selection to the MLS All-Star team.
Because of the competitive format -- MLS vs. the World -- of the AT&T All-Star Game, MLS asked All-Star head coach Peter Vermes to select from among all available players, and he constructed a dynamic, balanced roster loaded with the League's top talent.
Vermes selected all eleven of the original fan-voted All-Stars. Nine roster selections are MLS All-Stars for the first time, with twelve of the 19 MLS teams represented.
The roster is below, followed by bios of each player, listed in alphabetical order by last name. Players are listed by the position they are most likely to play in the AT&T MLS All-Star Game, which is not necessarily the position they play for their respective clubs.
