Gameday Roster for 2013 AT&T MLS All-Star Game Unveiled
July 15, 2013 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release
NEW YORK - International stars Thierry Henry and Tim Cahill of the New York Red Bulls, Robbie Keane of the LA Galaxy, and Marco Di Vaio of the Montreal Impact are among the 20 MLS All-Stars confirmed on the gameday roster that will compete against AS Roma in the 2013 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on July 31 at Sporting Park (live on ESPN2, UniMas, and in Canada on TSN and RDS starting at 9 p.m. ET). Also in the squad are several players with U.S. National Team experience, including Matt Besler, Brad Davis, Omar Gonzalez and Graham Zusi.
Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber selected Seattle Sounder FC's homegrown defender DeAndre Yedlin and New York Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill as 2013 AT&T MLS All-Stars.
Because of the competitive format -- MLS vs. the World -- of the AT&T All-Star Game, MLS asked All-Star head coach Peter Vermes to select from among all available players, and he constructed a dynamic, balanced roster loaded with the League's top talent.
Vermes selected all 11 of the original fan-voted All-Stars. Nine roster selections are MLS All-Stars for the first time, with 12 of the 19 MLS teams represented.
The roster is below, followed by bios of each player, listed in alphabetical order by last name. Players are listed by the position they are most likely to play in the AT&T MLS All-Star Game, which is not necessarily the position they play for their respective clubs.
