July 15, 2013 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release
Four in Pursuit of The Boot
The Budweiser Golden Boot race has four frontrunners as MLS reaches Week 21 of the regular season. Sunday's two-goal performance from Camilo Sanvezzo not only landed the Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker in first place among all scorers and earned him MLS Player of the Week honors, but also set the stage for a dramatic chase for the award down the stretch.
Camilo's double gave him 12 goals this season and moved him ahead of Chicago Fire's Mike Magee and the Montreal Impact's Marco DiVaio, who each have scored 11 times, and two ahead of the Philadelphia Union's Jack McInerney, who stands on 10 goals as he is currently with the U.S. national team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Of the past eight seasons, only one other year featured four players within two goals of the Golden Boot lead as of July 15. For an Elias Sports Bureau comparison of previous Golden Boot races at this point in the year, CLICK HERE

Quotables
"It's hard to imagine many sports teams that can really capture the hearts and minds of the city quite like the Timbers have. It's a thank you to all those people that we spent years lobbying and asking for their financial support."
MLS Commissioner Don Garber on Portland and Jeld-Wen Field being named the site of the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game.
"When you're in a game like this, where you've got two very good teams and it's tight and the margin for error is slim, you're one play away from winning the game and one play away from losing the game, winning teams give more. Losing teams shrink and we grew. We got bigger as the game moved on."
Caleb Porter on his team's thrilling stoppage time victory over the LA Galaxy at Jeld-Wen Field.
"When you're afraid like this - we (knew) we had to score some goals and (earn) some points here - but when you don't believe in something, you don't have a chance."
Montreal Impact manager Marco Schallibaum following his team's 4-0 rout at the hands of the New York Red Bulls.
"It's definitely amazing. It felt right, especially hearing the crowd erupt. We had a record-breaking crowd, and hats off to them."
Soony Saad of Sporting KC following his two goal performance in front of the 27th consecutive sellout crowd in league play at Sporting Park.
