Eagles Fans,

Thank you for submitting photos of your Colorado Eagles-themed jack-o-lanterns!

We were very impressed with the pumpkin carving skills throughout Eagles Country -- and several outstanding entries were received -- but we had to pick one winner.

The winner is Brandon Parks of Cheyenne, Wyoming, whose pumpkin can be seen on this page. As the creator of the winning jack-o-lantern, Brandon will receive four tickets to our Sunday home game against the Allen Americans on November 15th.

You can check out all of the great entries Eagles fans submitted by going to the "2009 Pumpkin Carving Contest" photo gallery on our Web site.

Wednesday, November 4; Eagles Contribute $15,000 to Breast Cancer Awareness

WINDSOR, Colo. - With the conclusion of National Breast Cancer Awareness month at the end October, the Colorado Eagles - with the help of their fan base - were able to raise $15,000 for breast cancer survivors in Northern Colorado.

The Eagles collected the funds by auctioning off their jerseys worn against the Arizona Sundogs during a preseason game on Oct. 9. The majority of the jerseys were auctioned off in a silent auction at their game on Oct. 17. The proceeds from both the auction and the sales of replica jerseys will be donated to the Wilbur's Fund for Women with Breast Cancer.

For fans that would still like to contribute to the cause and possibly give a great gift to their loved ones for the holidays, there will be a chance to buy select customized pink jerseys at the Eagles' holiday store located in the Foothills Mall in Ft. Collins (opening in mid-November). A few of the select jerseys available at the store will be those of Greg Pankewicz, Kevin McClelland and Chris Stewart.

About Wilbur's Fund The Wilbur's Fund for Women with Breast Cancer is a fund accessed through the Poudre Valley Health System and their Patient Navigator Program. Wilbur's Fund specializes in helping women get through treatment by paying for basic needs. The program was started by Wilbur's Total Beverage in Ft. Collins, Colo. The funds are given out based on financial need and managed by the Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation.

Thursday, November 5; Eagles Introduce "Pay It Forward" Program

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles formally introduced today a new "Pay It Forward" program that's been in effect since the season began. As a way of giving back to the community in conjunction with this season's theme of "This Is Eagles Country," Eagles players and staff will be out and about all season long "paying it forward."

For each home game the team plays in the regular season, a member of the organization will be traveling to every corner of Eagles Country and giving back to the community and fan base through simple actions -- everything from picking up someone's lunch tab to handing out free team merchandise.

You'll know if you've been "paid forward" if an Eagles player of staff member does a favor for you and hands you a card stating that: The Colorado Eagles are giving back to the community through simple deeds. We encourage you to do the same. Help a neighbor...Pay It Forward!

Read the excerpt from the November 5th Loveland Reporter-Herald on our Web site to see how the program has already made an impact!

Friday, November 6; Eagles Hit The Road With Another Win

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Wichita Thunder 5-2 on the strength of a second period offensive outburst and balanced scoring overall. Five different Eagles scored a goal and their penalty killing remained impeccable, stopping all six Wichita chances to improve to 26-27 on the season (96.3%).

Colorado out-shot Wichita 12-6 during the first period, with the Thunder not registering their first shot until 3:22 in. But unfortunately for the Eagles, Wichita made that shot matter as Mark Adamek 's low shot from the point was deflected past Mike Mole by Troy Ofukany to give the Thunder the lead.

Colorado tied it up just over two minutes later with a power play goal from Jason Deleurme -- his second goal in as many games with the club. The play developed with Ryan McLeod sending the puck from the right corner to Aaron Schneekloth at the point. Schneekloth sent a slap-pass to Deleurme stationed at the right side of the net, and although his initial shot was stopped by Scott Campbell, he was able to poke home his own rebound.

The Eagles jumped out to a 4-1 lead with a trio of scores 163 seconds apart during the second period. The first came 1:09 in on a play that saw the puck travel from Schneekloth out of his own end, to Ryan Tobler skating through the neutral zone, to Riley Nelson streaking down the right wing. Nelson deposited the puck into the top left corner of the net to keep his streak of scoring in every game this season alive. On a historic note, the goal was Nelson's 207th as an Eagle, tying Greg Pankewicz for the all-time team record.

The second goal of the flurry came 110 seconds later when Adam Hogg picked up a loose puck in the low slot to the left of the crease and threw it past Campbell. And Felipe Larranaga made it 4-1 just 53 seconds later after McLeod stickhandled deftly off the right wing boards and found the defenseman in a similar spot for a similar shot past the Wichita goalkeeper.

Brad Thompson scored a shorthanded goal (the fourth against the Eagles this season) to cut Colorado's lead in half at 13:07. Thompson picked off Kevin Ulanski at the Eagles' offensive blue line and the lone Colorado defenseman fell down, leaving Thompson to a breakaway that he converted into a top-shelf shot past Mole.

The Eagles scored their fourth goal of the second period at 17:34 after Nelson stickhandled along the right wing boards before finding Kurtis Dulle pinching from the blue line for a shot from the left circle. Like Deleurme, the goal was Dulle's second in as many games with the team.

Neither team was able to score in the third period, pushing Colorado's record to 4-0-1 and dropping Wichita to 2-6-0. After playing in Amarillo Saturday night -- their first road game of the season -- Colorado will return home for a second game against the Gorillas on Nov. 11. The Wednesday night game will be the team's annual Military Appreciation Night.

Saturday, November 7; Penner, Eagles Earn Win on Road

AMARILLO, Texas - The Colorado Eagles hit the road for the first time in the 2009-10 season and remain without a regulation loss after defeating the Amarillo Gorillas 4-2. Andrew Penner stopped 40 shots and the Eagles' penalty-killers (tops in the league) stopped six of seven Gorillas chances in the win.

Colorado took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission after coming on strong in the final half of the opening period. Jason Deleurme got the Eagles on the board with his third goal in as many games since joining the club by picking up a loose puck in the slot and backhanding it past Mike Brown at 14:30. And just over three minutes later, Kevin Ulanski got his third tally of the season with a power-play goal when he picked up a deflected shot and put the puck home from low in the right circle.

The second period saw a fair share of whistles and special teams play, but neither team could find the back of the net. Penner was large in the Colorado cage, stopping all 17 shots faced in the frame, while Brown stopped 10 shots at the opposite end of the ice.

The Gorillas continued to throw pucks on net -- with 17 more shots in the final frame -- and they were able to break through with a pair of goals by the league's leading goal-scorer. But Colorado matched them with a pair of their own to claim the victory.

Steve Haddon made it 3-0 at 7:22 of the third period with a wrister from above the right hashes after an Amarillo turnover in the faceoff circle. But Joe Guenther ruined Penner's shutout bid with a power-play goal at 13:11 when Chris Cloud found him crashing the left side of the crease with a pass from below the goal line.

Guenther made things even more interesting about two minutes later -- moments after just missing -- when he got his second goal in a row from the left hash marks. But at 19:09, Ulanski followed suit with his second goal of the game into an empty net from center ice to effectively end the game.

The Eagles improved to 5-0-1 on the year and will take on the same Amarillo club on Wednesday night in the team's annual Military Appreciation Night game.

The Week Ahead

Wednesday, November 11; Eagles Host Amarillo for Annual Military Appreciation Night The Eagles will play their second game in a row against the Amarillo Gorillas after earning a 4-2 win in their first road game of the year on Saturday. All-time the Eagles are 12-1-2 against the Gorillas at the BEC. Wednesday night's game will be the Eagles' annual Military Appreciation Night game, and the arena will be full of military members -- past and present -- and their families!

Saturday, November 14 & Sunday, November 15; Expansion Allen Americans Come to BEC for Back-to-Back Games The Eagles will welcome the expansion Allen Americans to town as the two teams meet for the first time this weekend. The Americans won their first four games of the season and enter the week with the third-highest winning percentage in the CHL. Their 11 points currently have them tied with Colorado for fifth place in the league. Former Eagles defenseman Eric Adams is tied for fourth place in scoring on the Americans' roster.

Notable Numbers

NET TOTALS - With his win against the Gorillas Saturday night, Andrew Penner moved into a tie for third place on the franchise's all-time wins list. Sitting at 33, the second-year Colorado netminder is tied with Ryan Bach and Tyler Weiman. Penner reached 33 wins in just 45 starts, one game more than it took Weiman in 2004-05. His career.915 SV% ranks third on the team's list of goalies with at least 32 starts, and his 2.69 GAA ranks fourth.

MULTIPLE POINTSONALITIES - Although he had his streak of scoring a goal in every game this season snapped on Saturday night, Riley Nelson still has a pretty impressive streak going. The Eagles captain has registered a multi-point game in all six contests this season, accounting for his team-leading 15 points (7-8-15).

RACKING UP THE MILEStones - Eagles captain Riley Nelson has hit several major milestones so far this season and his next goal will bring another. Already this season, Nelson has hit the 500-point mark in his Eagles career and picked up his 300th assist as an Eagle as well. With a goal last Friday, Nelson tied Greg Pankewicz's franchise mark of 207 goals, meaning his next goal will set a new team mark.

EFFICIENT KILLERS - The Eagles' penalty killing units are performing spectacularly through the first six games of the season, leading the league with a penalty-killing percentage of 94.1%. Colorado has stopped 26 of 27 opposing power plays at home, and six of seven in their only game away from the Budweiser Events Center.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS - The two newest Eagles have made quite the first impressions. Forward Jason Deleurme has scored a goal in all three of his games with the team and defenseman Kurtis Dulle scored in each of his first two. Deleurme has shown a knack for scoring timely goals as his first was a game-winner and his next two opened the scoring each night: Colorado is 3-0-0 when scoring first.
