Odessa's Philippe Plante and Laredo's Jean-Philippe Levasseur Earn Weekly Awards

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending November 8th, 2009 are defensemen Philippe Plante of the Odessa Jackalopes and goaltender Jean-Philippe Levasseur of the Laredo Bucks.

Plante helped keep the Odessa power play firing away with four power play points on the week (1-3=4). The standout defensemen had points in all three of Odessa wins during the week totaling five points (1-4=5). He also finished the three games with +3 plus/minus rating. The Greenfield Park, Quebec native had a pair of helpers in his team's win at Corpus Christi on Thursday, a power play goal and assist in the Jackalopes win versus the Mudbugs Friday and he assisted don a goal in Odessa's fifth straight win on Saturday. The three straight wins last week keeps Odessa with the best record in the league at 8-1-1.

Levasseur wins the goaltender of the week award after posting a pair of wins in Arizona over the weekend. The first-year Buck helped Laredo win two of the three games in the series with the Sundogs. The Victoriaville, Quebec native allowed five goals on the week stopping 54 of 59 shots (.915). He helped the Bucks move up to a tie for second place in the Southern Conference with the weekend victories. On the season, Levasseur has not tasted defeat in regulation going 4-0-1.

In recognition of their achievements both Plante and Levasseur will receive a special gift from Oakley.
