Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, CO. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced Monday that they have signed forward Cam Maclise for the remainder of the 2016-17 season. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound winger recently concluded a two-year career at Mount Royal University in Canada where he posted 27 goals and 29 assists in 56 total games with the Cougars.
"Cam is a very talented young player who I had a chance to watch in person last month, said Eagles general manager Chris Stewart. "He will provide speed and skill up front, can produce points and also gives us solid depth at the center position."
Maclise finished second on the team with 13 goals and 27 points during his senior season, after posting 14 goals and 15 assists in his junior year. The 24 year-old was forced to sit out the 2014-15 season after transferring from the University of New Brunswick. He used that opportunity to play for the Lacombe Generals of the Chinook Hockey League, amassing 16 goals and 14 assists in 19 regular season games, 14 points in nine playoff contests and capping off the season with an Allan Cup Championship. Maclise also attended the developmental camp of the Los Angeles Kings in 2013 and Tampa Bay Lightning in 2014.
Prior to jumping to the collegiate game, the Camrose, Alberta native spent one season in the WHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings, followed by three standout years in the AJHL with the Brooks Bandits. During his time with the Bandits, Maclise would net 85 goals and 131 assists in 171 games, winning the AJHL Championship twice (2012, 2013) and being named the AJHL MVP and the Canadian Junior Hockey League Player of the Year during the 2012-13 campaign.
