Colonials Drop Boulders, 5-1

New York Boulders News Release
RAMAPO, New York - The Pittsfield Colonials ended the Boulders' four-game winning streak on Monday night with a 5-1 victory at Provident Bank Park. In a game that was delayed about 30 minutes due to inclement weather, the Boulders offense struggled to put a consistent inning together due to a strong pitching performance from Pittsfield's Patrick Moran.
Moran outdueled Rockland's Ryan Knippschild by tossing a complete game. He gave up one run on five hits, while walking one and striking out seven. Knippschild earned the loss, but pitched one of his better games, going eight innings and striking out four.
Pittsfield's offense got off to quick start after the rain delay. With two outs, Billy Mottram doubled to center field and was then driven in by Angel Molina to give the Colonials an early 1-0 lead.
Rockland answered in the third. Ryde Rodriguez led off with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Cole Kraft. After Ray Stokes grounded out to advance Rodriguez to third, Ryan Mollica singled up the middle to tie the game at one.
Pittsfield jumped ahead once again in the fifth. With runners on second and third with one out, leadoff hitter Jerod Edmonson hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Quentin Davis and put the Colonials back up by one.
The Colonials added to their lead in the sixth by putting together four straight hits. Chris Torres and Scott Knazek each drove in a run to give Pittsfield a 4-1 advantage.
Pittsfield tacked on another run in the ninth. Former Boulder Jermel Lomack singled to score Knazek, bringing the score to 5-1 in favor of the Colonials.
The Boulders (11-15, 30-42) will continue their four-game series against Pittsfield (17-12, 42-33) tomorrow at Provident Bank Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Jonathan Velasquez (5-5) will make his fifteenth start for the Boulders as he faces off against Pittsfield's T.J. Wink (4-0).
