Molina, Rusch Named Players of the Week

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has named Pittsfield OF Angel Molina and Quebec Capitales RHP Matthew Rusch as the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

Molina batted .407 in eight games. In 27 at-bats, he collected 11 hits, including three doubles, a triple and a home run, scored five runs and drove in 11. Molina also had an on-base percentage of .469 to go along with a .704 slugging percentage. In the 16-2 win over the New York Federals in game one of the doubleheader last Wednesday, the Ponce, PR resident went 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. On the season, Molina is batting .316 with five home runs and 64 RBIs (tied for second in the league).

Rusch tossed a complete game shutout in the 11-0 victory over the New Jersey Jackals Thursday. He allowed only a walk and three hits and fanned 13 batters. Rusch compiled a record of 6-4 with a 2.99 ERA in 15 starts for the Capitales. He recently had his contract purchased by the Boston Red Sox.
