Colonials Clobber Sussex 10-2

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials rolled over the Sussex Skyhawks 10-2 at Wahconah Park in on Monday night.

Colonials' starter Patrick Moran (4-1) threw a no-hitter through four innings in an eventual six inning performance in which he allowed just one run on two hits while fanning three. Reliever Kyle Bradley (1) was the lone man out of the bullpen and recorded his first professional save finishing the game on the mound.

Pittsfield shortstop Matt Nandin (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI) clubbed a two-run shot and drove in three runs for the Colonials, who used a six run third inning to exploit Sussex. Five other Colonials recorded RBIs in the game including catcher Scott Knazek (2-for-4, RBI) who singled twice in the attack.

Rox starting pitcher Tim Stringer (3-5) suffered the loss and was hit for all nine (seven earned) Pittsfield runs over his six innings of work, allowing nine hits and seven walks in the outing.

Skyhawks' first baseman Kris Sanchez (1-for-3, HR) broke-up Moran's no-hit bid with a lead-off solo homer to begin the fifth inning.

The Colonials continue their seven game home-stand with game two of the series on Tuesday night against the Sussex Skyhawks. Righty Miguel Flores (5-4) is scheduled to take the ball for the Colonials for a 7:05pm first pitch.
