August 9, 2010 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Sussex Skyhawks News Release
Augusta, N.J. - The Skyhawks are proud to announce that Caleb Stewart has been named the Pointstreak Batter of the Week in the Can-Am League. The outfielder and designated hitter becomes the second Skyhawk batter to earn weekly honors this season after Carl Loadenthal was recognized in early June.
Stewart batted .406 for the week, bolstered by his 5-for-5 performance in last night's 9-5 victory at Quebec. The 28-year-old blasted three homeruns during the week to bring his season total to 10, tying him for eighth place among league leaders, and he drove in 13 runs to add to his league-best 70 RBI. Stewart, a 2004 22nd-round pick of the New York Mets, ranks third among all players in batting average at .344.
The Pointstreak Player of the Month for June leads the Skyhawks to Pittsfield today in search of their first series win of the second half. In six games against the Colonials this season, Stewart is batting .316 with a .464 on-base percentage.
