
Coley Wins 14th as Power Tops Lexington

(Lexington, NC- August 19, 2015)- The West Virginia Power beat the Lexington Legends 6-2 Wednesday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Austin Coley pitched seven complete for his 14th win of the year as the Power outhit the Legends 11-7 to take the rubber match of the three-game set.
The Legends opened the scoring with a run off Coley with a run in the second inning. Alexis Rivera singled in Chad Johnson after a leadoff double for a 1-0 Lexington lead. It marked the third straight game in the series that the Legends scored the first run.
Much like the first two games of the series, in the half inning after Lexington scored the game's first run, West Virginia immediately answered. Francisco Diaz walked and stole second. Tito Polo singled to put runners on the corners. Jordan Luplow's 36th double of the season drove both Diaz and Polo home for a 2-1 lead.
The 2-1 Power advantage lasted until the top of the seventh when West Virginia added a pair of insurance runs on a home run by Chase Simpson. The infielder's 11th home run of the season drove in Elvis Escobar for a 4-1 lead. The Power added two more in the ninth on a Diaz RBI single and a sacrifice fly from Tyler Filliben. The Legends closed the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth for a 6-2 final.
Coley (14-6) allowed five hits over the first three innings and stranded six men on. The right-hander allowed a single in the fourth before retiring six in a row and nine of the last ten batters he faced over seven complete. Jake Burnette worked a scoreless eighth for his sixth hold of the season. Matt Tenuta allowed two runs on five hits over five innings and took the loss.
The Power return to Appalachian Power Park on Thursday, August 20, to open a four game homestand against the Lakewood BlueClaws. .
