
BlueClaws, Garcia Cook Birds 6-1 in Homestand Finale

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Elniery Garcia gave up one run over six innings and the BlueClaws used a four-run first inning in topping Delmarva 6-1 on Wednesday night at FirstEnergy Park.
The win gives the BlueClaws (29-23/62-58) a win in the series finale after they dropped the first two games to the Shorebirds (26-26/58-62).
The BlueClaws scored four times in the first inning - three on a bases loaded double by Damek Tomscha and another on a SAC fly by Jiandido Tromp. That was the lone inning of the night for Delmarva starter Tanner Chleborad, who took the loss to fall to 1-1.
Elniery Garcia came out after six innings, allowing one run on five hits to improve to 8-9 on the season. Joey DeNato got the last nine outs for his ninth save. DeNato has allowed one earned run in his last 26.1 innings.
The BlueClaws added two more runs in the seventh inning on RBI singles by Cord Sandberg and Kyle Martin.
Jiandido Tromp had three hits for Lakewood and is 9-19 over his last five games. Kyle Martin, Cord Sandberg and Drew Stankiewicz all had two hits.
Herlis Rodriguez went 0-4 in the loss and his hitting streak was snapped at 19 games, over which he was 27-80. It was the third longest hitting streak in BlueClaws franchise history.
The BlueClaws head to West Virginia and open a series with the first place Power on Thursday night. RHP Jairo Munoz (1-0) starts for Lakewood opposite LHP Stephen Tarpley (10-2).
