Coleman, Aces Shut Out Wranglers 1-0

Gerald Coleman stopped all 23 shots he faced on Sunday, in his return to the Alaska Aces net, and Sean Curry scored the game's only goal in the second period, as the Aces blanked the Las Vegas Wranglers 1-0 at Sullivan Arena. The win completed a busy, seven-game stretch in ten days where Alaska went 5-1-1. The Aces finished their season series with Las Vegas with a 5-1-3 record. Alaska became the first team to win 40 games this year, upping their ECHL-leading record to 40-12-6. The Aces win, coupled with an Ontario Reign loss, moved Alaska five points ahead of the Reign for the top spot in the ECHL standings. The Aces remain home to finish their home stand next week against the Bakersfield Condors. Alaska hosts Bakersfield on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. The first period was played scoreless, with Gerald Coleman stopping all 12 shots he faced in his first game in over two weeks. Las Vegas outshot Alaska 12-6 in the period.

The Aces finally broke the scoreless tie late in the second period on a four-on-four. Sean Curry finished off a three-man rush into the zone with Chris Clackson and Zach Harrison who found Curry just outside the crease for a redirection past Mitch O'Keefe at 13:59. Alaska took their 1-0 lead into the third period, after outshooting Las Vegas 10-3 in the middle period.

In the third period, Alaska held off Las Vegas, and Coleman made eight more saves to complete his first shutout of the year. It was the second 1-0 win this season for Alaska over Las Vegas, and their third overall. Sunday's win was Rob Murray's 200th career head coaching victory. Coleman's performance marked the tenth time this season he's held the opposition to one goal or fewer, but was his first shutout.

Gerald Coleman (18-4-1) made 23 saves on 23 shots earning the win. Mitch O'Keefe (4-5-0) made 24 saves on 25 shots in the loss. The Aces went 0-5 on the power play and the Wranglers were 0-7. Alaska outshot Las Vegas 25-23 in the game.
