
Road Warriors Slip Past Stingrays 3-2

Greenville, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (30-24-2-3) fell to the Greenville Road Warriors (31-20-2-4) 3-2 at the Bi-Lo Center Sunday afternoon. The loss snaps an eight-game point streak (7-0-1-0) and four-game winning streak.
Forward Jay Silvia put the Stingrays on top 1-0 with his second goal of the season at 14:22 of the first period tapping a loose puck past the right pad of Road Warriors goaltender Connor Knapp (W, 25 saves on 27 shots). Forward Justin Courtnall recorded the lone assist.
Road Warriors forward Brendan Connelly ended the Stingrays' shutout streak with a power-play goal at 12:45 of the second period lifting a shot over the glove of Stingrays netminder Jeff Jakaitis (L, 41 saves on 44 shots) from the top of the right-wing circle. Defenseman Mike Marcou and forward Jordie Johnston added assists. The shutout streak lasted 217 minutes and two seconds. The Stingrays reclaimed the lead on the man advantage with a tally from forward Tyler Johnson at 16:12 with help from forward Ryan Hayes and defenseman Derek Foam.
Connelly knotted the game back up 2:19 in the third period and completed the hat trick at 8:03 with his 22 goal of the season. The Stingrays finished the contest 1-for-3 at the power play while the Road Warriors went 1-for-4.
The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Tuesday, February 26 to host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. Grab two tickets for the price on one at the Coliseum Box Office!
