Clutch Hit Missing in Loss to Hudson Valley

TROY, NY--The Tri-City ValleyCats were one timely hit away from a series-opening win against the Hudson Valley Renegades, falling by a score of 3-1 at The Joe on Thursday night.Jeremy Pena and Austin Dennis provided the only two hits of the game for the ValleyCats on a night where they stranded seven on base.

Mark Moclair was tagged with his first career loss, allowing two runs to score in the third inning on a double by Adrian Rondon.

Nivaldo Rodriguez surrendered a solo home run to Chris Betts in the seventh inning for Hudson Valley's third and final run.

Austin Dennis scored the ValleyCats' only run in the seventh inning on a balk by Hudson Valley's Simon Rosenblum-Larson.

The game took two hours and 54 minutes to complete in front of a crowd of 4,216 spectators on Miltary Appreciation / Veteran's Night at Joe Bruno Stadium.

The series-opening loss drops Tri-City to 7-6 on the season, tied with the Vermont Lake Monsters for first place in the New York-Penn League's Stedler division.

The 'Cats and Renegades will return to Joe Bruno Stadium on Friday night as Tri-City's RHP Cody Deason opposes Hudson Valley's RHP Michael Mercado.

It will be Prom Night and Teacher Appreciation night at The Joe, with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.

Coverage will begin on the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano 15 minutes prior to the start of the game.
