
Clinton Lumbers Past Lake County 3-2

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - Jordy Lara hit a homerun in the top of the eighth inning to power the LumberKings past the Lake County Captains (6-14) by a score of 3-2. The homerun was the first of the season for Lara. Clinton (8-10) now owns a 7-3 lead in the all-time series against the Captains.
Clinton scored a run in the top of the first inning. Jabari Henry walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. He moved to third on a ground ball and later scored on another wild pitch. The score was 1-0 after a half on an inning. Lake County took the lead in the bottom of the inning.
LeVon Washington hit a lead off double and scored on a two out single by Joe Sever. The game was tied at 1-1. Eric Haase, hit a fly ball to right field, and the ball was dropped by Gaby Guerrero and Sever scored from first on the error on the dropped pop up and Lake County led 2-1.
Clinton tied the ballgame at 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning. Dario Pizzano led off with a single, and stole second base. Tyler Marlette singled Pizzano to third base. The third wild pitch plated Pizzano and the score was even once again.
The Captains sent RHP Mitch Brown to the hill for the start. Brown (1-1) did not get a decision. Brown pitched four innings, and allowed four hits, tow earned runs, four walks and Brown struck out six. Josh Martin (1-2) pitched four innings and allowed one hit, one earned run and he struck out two. Martin took the loss and allowed the homer to Lara. Felix Sterling pitched a scoreless ninth for the Captains.
Clinton started the RHP Victor Sanchez (0-0). Sanchez did not get a decision after twirling six innings allowing three hits, two runs only one was earned. He walked one and struck out three. Matthew Vedo (1-0) entered in relief. Vedo got the win after pitching two innings, and allowing just one hit. Matthew Hauser pitched the ninth inning and earned the save, his second of the season.
The Captains will remain home on Friday Night to take on the Clinton LumberKings. Clinton will be making their only trip to Classic Park in two seasons. The Captains will start RHP Jake Sisco (0-2, 1.93) and Clinton will counter with LHP Taylor Pike (1-2, 1.93).
