DAYTON, OH - The Bowling Green Hot Rods are officially headed back to the playoffs after an 8-4 win over the Dayton Dragons this afternoon at Fifth Third Field. CF Carl Chester hit his third home run of the season, and RHP Tobias Myers earned his seventh win of the year.

The Hot Rods got on the board right away in the top of the first. 2B Vidal Brujan drilled a ball to right center that hit off the top of the wall, and it went for a triple. Two batters later, SS Zach Rutherford hit a fly ball to right, scoring Brujan, and making it 1-0.

Bowling Green broke the game open in the second, as they scored five runs, sending eight batters to the plate. The inning was highlighted by Chester's three run home run to left, and it was 6-0 Hot Rods.

The Dragons scored a pair of runs to make it 6-2 entering the fifth, when Rutherford scored on an RBI single from DH Devin Davis, giving Bowling Green a 7-2 lead.

Dayton closed to within 7-4 in the fifth, and stranded the bases loaded against Myers.

RHP Orlando Romero came on in relief starting in the sixth, and threw three perfect innings, striking out five.

LF Moises Gomez hit a home run off the scoreboard in left in the top of the seventh that made the score 8-4.

The Hot Rods clinched their sixth postseason berth in franchise history, and it is the first time since 2011 that they've clinched in the first half.

Bowling Green looks for the four game sweep tomorrow against the Dayton Dragons. First pitch from Fifth Third Field is set for 7:00pm Eastern.
