
Clayton Tops Among CHL Scorers

THUNDER SWEEP MUDBUGS- Goaltender Patrik Lovisek made 31 saves, leading the Thunder to a 2-1 victory over Bossier City on Friday night at the Kansas Coliseum. The win gave the Thunder a sweep of the three-game season series between the two teams. Jerod Bina and Jeff Petruic scored goals for the Thunder.
TULSA NIPS THUNDER IN FIGHT-FILLED GAME- The Oilers jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, then held off the Thunder for a 6-5 victory on Saturday night in Tulsa. Trailing 6-3 late in the third period, the Thunder scored a pair of goals, then pulled the goaltender with 2:06 left, but were unable to get the tying goal. Jeff Petruic and Travis Clayton led the Thunder with three points each. The game featured 12 majors and 176 penalty minutes, a CHL season-high 104 to the Thunder, who also had four players ejected. The two teams resume hostilities in Tulsa again this Saturday.
CLAYTON LEADS CHL- Center Travis Clayton had three points this weekend, moving to the top of the CHL scoring race, where he and Memphis' Don Parsons have 40 points each. Clayton also ranks second in the CHL with 26 assists, while his 63 penalty minutes are the most by any player among the top 25 scorers. With his big weekend, which featured his 50th career power play goal, Clayton moved two points ahead of teammate Jason Duda for the most points in Thunder history (409). With 34 points, Duda is currently sixth in the CHL in scoring, while fellow linemate Jeff Petruic moved up to 15th overall, with 28 points.
RECORD WEEKEND FOR LEITER- Team captain Jeff Leiter put on a show in Tulsa, picking up a Thunder single-game record 47 penalty minutes. Leiter accomplished the feat with three fighting majors, one minor, one 10-minute misconduct, two game misconducts and now ranks fifth in the CHL with 146 penalty minutes. Leiter has now picked up 43 major penalties in his Thunder career, one shy of Kris Schultz' franchise-record. As a team, the Thunder now lead the CHL, averaging 33.88 penalty minutes per game.
THUNDERBOLTS- Forward Derek Reynolds, acquired last week from the El Paso Buzzards, picked up an assist over the weekend...The Thunder are now second in the CHL in road power play percentage, at 19.8%...The Thunder lead the CHL with 38 second period goals...Goaltender Patrik Lovisek had his four-game winning streak halted on Saturday...Paul Johnson and Aaron Plumb both picked up their 400th career penalty minutes this weekend...Goaltender Kristian Antila is expected to be activated from injured reserve this week...This Friday is Red Light Night, with half-price lower level tickets for all groups of 20 or more people...The Thunder will hold their annual season ticketholder Christmas party tonight at The Cave in Old town, beginning at 6:00 PM.
