Buzzards Release Grasso

EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso Buzzards announced right winger Joey Grasso has been placed on waivers.

In seven games for the Buzzards, Grasso had one goal and one assist, amassing two penalty minutes with a plus/minus rating of -1.

Grasso, a 6 feet, 185 lb. forward from Long Island, NY, played for the Baton Rouge Kingfish in the East Coast Hockey League and the Markham Waxers in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League. For the Kingfish, Grasso in eight games had no goals, three assists and two penalty minutes. In 27 games for Markham, Grasso amassed six goals, 11 assists and 44 penalty minutes.

The Buzzards play at 7 p.m. Friday, at the El Paso County Coliseum, against their bitter rival, the New Mexico Scorpions. On Saturday, the Buzzards will host the San Angelo Saints at the Nest beginning at 7 p.m. On those weekend games, the Buzzards will conduct an unwrapped toy drive with the U.S. Marine Corps reserve unit's Toys for Tots program. For each new, unwrapped toy brought to the El Paso County Coliseum box office, fans will receive buy one get one free on game tickets. As well, during the games there will be a Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to toss stuffed toys onto the ice after the Buzzards' first goal of each night. The toys and bears will be collected and distributed in a joint effort by Buzzards' players and Marines on Christmas Eve to needy children at Thomason Hospital. The local media is invited to come join in this event beginning at 8 a.m. on December 24th at Thomason Hospital.
