San Angelo Saints News Release

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo Saints today are proud to announce that rookie forward Trevor Weisgerber has been named the CHL Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 9-15. In his first four games in a Saints uniform (all this past week) Weisgerber notched 5 goals and 2 assists with a plus/minus rating of +6. This is the first time this season that a Saints player has won the Player of the Week honors.

In his first game against Lubbock last Tuesday, Weisgerber scored two goals on his first two shots of the game. On Friday in Laredo he scored a short-handed goal and also added an assist. In Saturday's rout of Corpus Christi he scored the game winning goal and also added an assist – and Sunday against Laredo he scored the tying goal with just 42 seconds left in the game to send the game to overtime and earn a point in the standings for the Saints.

Weisgerber started the season with the CHL's Oklahoma City Blazers where he played 11 games and recorded 2 goals and 2 assists. He was snapped up quickly by the Saints upon his release from the Blazers and arrived just in time to skate with the Saints at practice last Tuesday morning and then play Tuesday night. He also played college hockey at Lake Superior State with fellow Saints players Matt Frick and Jeff Cheeseman.
