Luciano Caravaggio made 32 saves in goal for the Scorps. SCORPIONS 5, INDIANAPOLIS 2 â Playing against the top penalty-killing team in the CHL, the Scorpions scored a pair of power play goals in a 40-second span en route to a 5-2 win over the Ice on Saturday. Chris Richards led the way once again with a four-point game on two goals and two assists while Arturs Kupaks recorded a goal and two helpers. Pete Brearley and Nate Mauer scored the other goals while Luciano Caravaggio had another strong performance with 34 saves. CARAVAGGIO CATCHES FIRE â Scorpions goalie Luciano Caravaggio has seem his numbers improve during the past few weeks. Since allowing seven goals against Laredo on Nov. 26, the Toronto, Ontario native has allowed three goals or less in each of his past six starts as he has gotten the starting nod in seven consecutive games. Caravaggio is fifth in the CHL with 10 wins, tied for eighth with 18 games played and 12th with a 2.68 GAA. Caravaggio needs seven more wins to tie Tony Martino for the Scorpions all-time record with 54. AMBROZIAK INCHES HIGHER â Scorpions winger Peter Ambroziak, who recorded his 400th career point earlier in the season, continues to move up the charts in the franchise's career records. The 31 year-old native of Kanata, Ontario is now second on the Scorps' all-time points list with 229, just 12 behind leader Sylvain Naud. He is second with 110 goals (24 behind Naud), third with 119 assists and fourth with 178 games played. STINGERS â Chris Richards recorded his 100th point in a Scorpions uniform with an assist on Arturs Kupaks' first period goal on Saturday against Indianapolis... He went on to record four points in the game with two goals and two assists... Richards is back up to fourth in the league with 37 points, fifth with 17 goals and third with eight power play tallies... Pete Brearley is tied for third with four game-winning goals... Arturs Kupaks is tied for fifth among CHL defensemen with 21 points (5g-16a)... Following Friday's game in El Paso, the Scorpions will have a full week off before resuming play on Dec. 27 in Odessa, their longest respite of the season... That game kicks off a stretch of seven games in ten days after having played six games in the first 26 days of December... The Scorpions power play is back up to first on home ice at 30 percent (21-of-70), just one tenth of a percent ahead of Corpus Christi at 29.9 percent (20-of-67).
