
Clayton Hits Milestones as Thunder Win Three

THUNDER EXTEND HOME STREAK- Adam Calder had three points and goaltender Nathan Grobins stopped 22 of 23 shots, as the Thunder defeated New Mexico, 4-1, at the Kansas Coliseum on Tuesday. Rookie Tye Korbl scored the game-winning goal, his first goal as a professional. The Thunder have now won five straight home games, dating back to December 20th.
RIVERKINGS FIGHT PAST THUNDER- Don Parsons had four points, helping turn a one-goal game into a 6-2 Memphis victory. The game featured nine majors and 97 penalty minutes. Adam Calder and Anders Strome scored goals for the Thunder.
THUNDER BEAT TULSA WITH BIG THIRD PERIOD- Trailing 3-2 with nine minutes left, the Thunder exploded for three goals in exactly three minutes, then held on for a 5-4 win at Tulsa on Saturday. Trevor Allman and Adam Calder got things started before Travis Clayton picked up the game-winner for his 200th career goal. The win was Wichita's first this season, when trailing after two periods.
GROBINS LEADS THUNDER PAST LUBBOCK- CHL All-Star goaltender Nathan Grobins made 40 saves, including 33 in the final two periods, leading the Thunder to a 4-2 road win on Saturday. Adam Calder, Travis Clayton and Jason Duda led the Thunder, combining for three goals and eight points. Forward Jeff Leiter missed the game, serving the first of his two-game CHL suspension.
INJURY REPORT- Defenseman Peter Runkel was moved to the 45-day IR last week. Runkel, out since December 7th, is expected back in the lineup when the Thunder return home to face the Oklahoma City Blazers on Friday, January 23rd. Defenseman Darryl Green will have x-rays on his injured hand today and is questionable for this week's games.
BIG WEEK FOR CLAYTON, CALDER- Veteran Travis Clayton had eight points last week, including two-game-winning goals, en route to six more milestones. On Friday, Clayton picked up his 300th career assist, 200th career goal and 500th career point. The following night at Lubbock, Clayton reached his 300th career Thunder assist and his 500th career Thunder point. Clayton now has 504 career points, all but three of those points coming with the Thunder. Clayton's linemate, Adam Calder, had nine points last week, including his 300th career point. In four games, the line of Clayton, Calder and Jason Duda combined for 10 goals and 25 points. Duda is now just four points shy of 500 for his career.
THUNDERBOLTS- Wichita is now 7-3-0 over the last 10 games...Rookie Ryan Olynyk is second in the CHL with 22 major penalties...Anders Strome leads all CHL rookies with 31 points...Rookie Les Hrapchak is +14 in his last 10 games...Goaltender Nathan Grobins has started eight straight games and is 4-1-0 in his last five...With 915, Jeff Leiter is 11 penalty minutes shy of Sean O'Reilly's franchise record...The Thunder power play unit has moved up to sixth in the CHL, at 15.8%...The Thunder are third in the CHL, allowing just 29.14 shots per game.
