Statistical Note â The Saints have already passed last year's win (20) and points (47) totals with 25 games still left on this season's schedule.
Streaks â The Saints are currently riding a 3-game win streak and have won 6 straight at home. Chris Minard has a 7-game point scoring streak (12 pts) â while Ryan Finnerty has a 6-game streak intact (11 pts). The Saints are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, and 4-0-1 in their last 5 games.
Week In Review â The Saints went 3-0-0 this week (all at home) with a 3-2 shoot-out win over Amarillo on Tuesday, an 8-1 win over Lubbock on Friday and a 4-3 win over Amarillo on Saturday.
Jan. 6th / Amarillo 2 - San Angelo 3 (SO) / In a game the Saints never led, Ryan Finnerty scored on the first shot in the sudden-death shoot-out to give the Saints the win. Amarillo struck first late in the 1st period for a 1-0 lead that held until early in the 3rd period when the Saints tied it on Tyler Knight's goal. Amarillo went back on top 2-1 at the 10:39 mark of the 3rd period â but the Saints pulled their goalie and Finnerty scored the tying goal at the 19:09 mark. After a scoreless overtime, each team scored once in the 5-man shoot-out, then Finnerty notched the game-winner in sudden-death. Brant Nicklin had 26 saves and 5 more in the shoot-out for the win.
Jan. 9th / Lubbock 1 - San Angelo 8 / The Saints put up their highest goal out-put in team history as they trounced Lubbock Friday in San Angelo. Dan Reja (2G, 2A), Jarett Metz (2G), Andy Doktorchik (1G, 2A), Tyler Knight (1G, 1A), Chris Minard (3A) and Steve Roberts (3A) all had multi-point games for the Saints who led throughout the game. Brant Nicklin posted 27 saves for his 2nd win in a row.
Jan. 10th / Amarillo 3 - San Angelo 4 / The Saints held off a furious 3rd period rally to beat the Gorillas for this 2nd time this week. The Saints led 4-1 on goals by Finnerty, Knight, Minard and Roberts â but two 3rd period goals by the Gorillas made it interesting. Brant Nicklin had 37 saves as the Gorillas out-shot the Saints 40-31, including several big saves in the final 1:15 of the 3rd period as the Gorillas pulled their goalie in a last-ditch effort to tie the game. Nicklin went 3-0-0 for the week and twice out-dueled Amarillo's All-Star goalie Shawn Degagne.
Player Moves: Dusty Hunter remains on Injured Reserve until at least Jan. 19th. Konrad Brand remains on IR and the Saints added John Jarram to the injured list when he was hurt Tuesday in his first game back. Scott Mahar returned to the Saints line-up this week after missing 22 games due to injury.
