CHL Announces Players of the Week

The Central Hockey League has today announced the weekly recipients of the Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week and the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week awards for Week 13 of the Central Hockey League season. Laredo right winger Chris Grenville scored five goals and added five assists in four Bucks victories this week to earn Bauer/Nike Player of the Week accolades, while Colorado netminder Ryan Bach earned a pair of victories and a shutout en route to being selected as the Vaughn Goaltender of the Week.

Grenville, selected to participate in his second consecutive CHL All-Star Game last week, helped the Bucks record four consecutive wins over the past week, scoring at least a goal and an assist in each outing. His top performance came in a 7-3 home win over Austin, scoring twice and adding a pair of assists. Grenville has been outstanding thus far in January, scoring seven goals and adding six assists in five games, and was last season's All-Star Game Most Valuable Player after scoring four times in the Southern Conference's 10-6 win over the Northern Conference in Oklahoma City.

Colorado's Bach became the first goalie in the CHL this season to reach 20 wins by virtue of back-to-back victories over Odessa this weekend, and also claimed a share of the shutout lead by recording his fourth of the season. He made 28 saves in a 4-1 victory over Odessa on January 9th, and then turned in a 19-save shutout performance against the Jackalopes the following afternoon. A 1992 draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings, Bach leads the CHL in minutes played (1920:36) and sits seventh in the circuit with a goals against average of 2.31.
