Claws Tie Franchise Wins Mark, Beat Kannapolis 3-2

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Carlos Perdomo singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning Monday afternoon, as the BlueClaws won the last game of the 2010 regular season 3-2 over Kannapolis.

The 2010 BlueClaws tied the franchise record of 84 wins set by the 2006 Championship squad, finishing the second half with a 42-27 mark after going 42-28 in the first half.

Sunday night Perdomo picked up his first hit as a BlueClaw and scored the tying run in the ninth inning. Monday afternoon his second hit gave the Claws their first lead of the day.

With Anthony Hewitt on third and Kyle Lafrenz on first with two outs, Perdomo blooped a ball to shallow right to make it a 3-2 game.

Mike McGuire threw a scoreless ninth for his sixth save, while Kyle Carr (1-0) chipped in two innings out of the pen for the win.

Kannapolis took the lead against Lakewood starter Mike Bolsenbroek in the first on an RBI single by Tyler Saladino, and added a second run in the second on a Juan Silverio RBI single.

Bolsenbroek went four innings in his second start of the season, giving up two runs on four hits.

The BlueClaws battled their way back against Justin Collup (9-12). Kyle Lafrenz opened the third inning with a solo shot out to left, his first home run of the season and Lakewood's first hit of the day.

The Claws tied the game in the sixth. Brian Gump drew a leadoff walk, Michael Dabbs singled to send Gump to third, and Jeremy Barnes hit a sacrifice fly to left.

Wednesday at 7:00 pm the BlueClaws will start the 2010 postseason in Hickory, NC against the Crawdads. RHP Trevor May (7-3, 2.91) will face Hickory RHP Neil Ramirez (10-8, 4.43) in Game 1.
