Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
JERSEY SHORE, NJ - The BlueClaws got home runs from Erick Brito and Cade Fergus and topped Wilmington 7-3 for their team-record tying eighth straight win.
Jersey Shore won eight in a row in 2016 and 2017 and have now won eight in a row in 2024 (since May 1st). They have also taken the first three games from Wilmington in this series to get to 17-13 on the year.
Daylen Lile homered on the second pitch of the game off Estibenzon Jimenez to give the Blue Rocks a 1-0 lead.
The BlueClaws took the lead in the second on a two-run home run by Erick Brito. It was his first of the season and third professional home run. The next inning, Cade Fergus padded the lead with a two-run home run of his own. For Fergus, it was his third of the season and second of the homestand after he went deep on Friday.
After Wilmington got a run in the top of the fifth, Leandro Pineda tripled home a run in the bottom of the fifth to put the BlueClaws up 5-2. The three-base hit for Pineda, who had walked in his first two plate appearances, extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
Emaarion Boyd had an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to cap a 3-5 game. Pineda and Brito had two hits for Jersey Shore as well.
Starter Estibenzon Jimenez went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He was followed by Mason Ronan, Alex Rao, and Charles King. Daniel Harper came on in the ninth to close it out.
The teams continue their series on Friday night at 6:35 pm with the Phillie Phanatic on hand. RHP Eiberson Castellano starts for Jersey Shore.
