Claws, Renegades Split a Double-Header on Sunday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - The BlueClaws and Hudson Valley split a double-header on Sunday, with Hudson Valley winning the opener 2-0 and the BlueClaws the nightcap 4-0.

Game One

Hudson Valley won game one 2-0. Aldenis Sanchez singled in a run in the second with a second run scoring on the play on an error on left fielder Jared Carr.

Edgar Barclay gave up one hit over 3.2 scoreless innings to earn the win. Ben Brown, who gave up two runs in two innings, took the loss for the BlueClaws.

Carr had a base hit in the third inning, the lone BlueClaws hit in the game. Carlo Reyes, Jonathan Hughes, and Andrew Baker combined to throw five scoreless innings in relief.

Game Two

Mick Abel and three relievers combined on a shutout as the BlueClaws blanked Hudson Valley 4-0 in game two.

The BlueClaws took the lead on a Jared Carr RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. They added two more on a throwing error and RBI groundout from Johan Rojas in the second inning. McCarthy Tatum doubled home a run in the third inning.

Abel threw four scoreless innings, but walked five while striking out six. Erubiel Armenta (1-0), Aidan Anderson, and Jason Ruffcorn each threw a scoreless inning in relief.

The BlueClaws spend the next two weeks on the road, in Bowling Green and Wilmington. Their next home game is set for May 24th against Greenville.
