Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - All good things come to an end. Included is the BlueClaws 11-game win streak, which was snapped in a 4-1 loss to Hudson Valley on Tuesday at Heritage Financial Park.

The loss was Jersey Shore's (20-14) first in May after they entered on a franchise-record 11-game winning streak that began on May 1st. Hudson Valley (16-15) took the series opener in the first meeting since the Renegades eliminated the BlueClaws from the postseason in September.

Otto Kemp got the BlueClaws off to a great start with a first inning home run off Cam Schlittler to give the BlueClaws a 1-0 lead. After Hudson Valley tied the game in the bottom of the first, the BlueClaws plated three in the top of the third. A Bryan Rincon groundout, Felix Reyes RBI double, and William Bergolla RBI single put the BlueClaws up 4-1.

The lead didn't last long, as Hudson Valley scored three in the bottom of the fourth off Jean Cabrera, including two on a single from Kiko Romero.

Cabrera came out after 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits.

Walks doomed Jersey Shore in the bottom of the sixth. Mason Ronan walked the first three batters of the inning. Nelson Medina drove in two with a single and Roc Riggio drove in one with a single of his own. Jace Avina added a SAC fly for an 8-4 lead.

The BlueClaws got one back in the seventh on an RBI triple by Erick Brito.

Cole Ayers got the last seven outs for his second save and preserved the win for Hueston Morrill (1-1), who gave up one run in 1.2 innings of relief.

Ronan (0-1) took the loss and was charged with four runs in 1/3 of an inning.

Kemp had two hits for Jersey Shore. Leandro Pineda went 0-4 and had his 13 game hitting streak snapped.

The BlueClaws and Renegades continue their series on Wednesday morning at 11:05 am. LHP Samuel Aldegheri starts for Jersey Shore.
