NORTH CHARLESTON, SC Head Coach and General Manager Rick Adduono announced today that forward Marty Clapton has been called up to the St. John's Maple Leafs and defenseman Ryan Brindley has been promoted to the Rochester Americans. Both teams play in the American Hockey League. The Rays completed their season with a 3-2 loss at the Carolina Ice Palace on Tuesday night.

"I don't think this will be the last of the promotions, the AHL still has plenty of hockey remaining in its season," said Adduono. "Both Marty and Ryan had tremendous seasons for us this year and deserve the chance to go up and try to help their respective teams."

St. John's is an affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, while Rochester is an affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres.

Clapton, an ECHL veteran, scored 15 goals and added 39 assists for 54 points in 63 games with the Stingrays this season. Brindley had a career season , scoring 17 goals and adding 30 assists for 47 points in 72 games.

"Both players have American League experience which should help them adjust quickly," noted Adduono. "Marty and Ryan both have size and skill and would be an asset to any team."

The Stingrays will begin their tenth anniversary season next October. South Carolina has made the post season in each of its first nine seasons. Season tickets for next year are on sale now at the Stingrays office by calling 744-2248.
