Bierk Named Goaltender of the Month

AUGUSTA, GA –The East Coast Hockey League announced today that Augusta Lynx goaltender Zac Bierk has been named Goalie of the Month for March. The 25-year-old Peterborough, Ontario native compiled a record of 10-4-2 with a 2.10 goals against average and a .932 save percentage in the month of March.

Bierk started all but one game for the Lynx in their drive towards the playoffs during the month playing in 16 of 17 games. Bierk finished the season by starting 21 of the final 22 games and recording a record of 14-6-2. He finished the season with a GAA average of 2.33; fourth best in the league, and his save percentage was second best in the league at .925. Bierk is the first goaltender in Lynx franchise history to end up ranked in the Top Five among ECHL goaltenders. Bierk was runner-up for the Goaltender of the Month award in February after going 5-2-0 with a 1.91 goals against average and a .938 save percentage.

The Tampa Bay Lightning in the 9th round, and 212th overall drafted Bierk in 1995. He has seen action in the NHL with both Tampa Bay and Minnesota. Bierk's numbers in March were only bettered by his on-ice performance that included numerous fantastic saves and rock solid steadiness.
