Dayton Bombers News Release
The Dayton Bombers won Game One of their Best-of-Five Northwest Division Semifinal Series, 4-1, over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Wednesday night at the Nutter Center.
For the the fifth time in just nine games dating back to the end of the regular season, Bombers winger Jason Sessa, acquired from South Carolina in a deal just prior to the trade deadline, scored two goals. After Andrew Williamson banged in Chris Thompson's centering pass at 8:22 of the first period to give the Bombers a 1-0 edge, Sessa scored the first of his two goals at 3:40 of the second period on a wraparound attempt that beat goalie Alex Westlund.Though Curtis Huppe pulled Cincinnati to within one at 15:39, Sessa helped the Bombers regain their two-goal edge with 28 seconds left in the stanza, converting a cross-ice pass from center Fred Slukynsky. Cory Morgan added a power-play insurance goal 4:39 into the third period on a three-way passing play involving defenseman Mike Vellinga and Slukynsky. The Bombers outshot the Cyclones 46-21 in the game.
