Clams Offense Explodes on 4th of July; Fish Drop Second Straight

July 5, 2016 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Lexington County Blowfish News Release

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. --The Fourth of July featured plenty of postgame fireworks from Lexington County Baseball stadium tonight after the Edenton Steamers supplied an offensive showing of their own against the Blowfish.

Lexington County jumped ahead quickly in the first when Chas McCormick (Millersville) blasted a solo home run his first of the season over the right field wall to lead things off for the Blowfish in the first.

The Clams immediately took the lead in the second when Tony Rosselli (Indiana State) launched his 6th homer of the season, a two run shot, over the left field wall brining in Trey Hair (Evansville).

Edenton added a run in the fourth but the Blowfish combatted that in their home half of the inning when Clint Carr (Valdosta State) came around to score on an RBI single through the right side from Adam Sasser (Georgia). At that point the score read 3-2.

The fifth inning brought Bobby Schuman (CSU-Northridge) home for Edenton on the Rosselli RBI single and the sixth was even more unkind to the Blowfish.

The Clams batted around in the sixth, stringing together 5 consecutive base hits off of Tyler Norris (Bethune-Cookman) chasing the right hander out of the game. Edenton plated five Steamers in the inning ballooning the lead to 9-2.

Bennette Hill smacked his second home run in as many games played in the bottom of the sixth giving the blowfish their third run but that would be all they could muster throughout the remainder of the game.

Edenton added two more runs in the eighth and shut the door in the ninth knocking off the Fish at the Lex 11-3.

The loss is the second in a row for Lexington County and they have fallen to 0-2 in the early goings of the second half of the CPL second half.
