TONIGHT'S MATCHUP:
The first-place Cyclones continue their "Turkey Week" road trip in Reading for the second of four regular season meetings with the Royals. On Wednesday night, Reading got past Cincinnati in overtime by a 4-3 final score. Last year, the Cyclones went 2-1-0 against Reading with one of those victories coming at the Sovereign Center.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS:
Reading comes in tonight's action ranked 2nd in the Atlantic Division with a 10-6-0 record. They're playing some of the best hockey of the season during their last 11 games, posting an 9-2-0 mark. Although they're just 4-3 at Sovereign Center, they've earned a "W" in four of their last five home games. Matt Caruana leads the Royals in scoring, amassing 12 goals and 7 assists while Ben Gordon ranks second with 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists). Mikhail Stefanovich netted his first three professional goals in hat trick-style to lead the Royals on Wednesday against the Cyclones.
POINTS OF INTEREST: The ¬ËClones have now earned a point in nine straight games...the longest such streak currently alive in the ECHL. They are 6-0-3 dating back to November 3, when they suffered their last regulation loss to Kalamazoo by a 4-3 final. Cincinnati has outscored its opponent 26-19 during this current stretch.
IT'S A KILL SHOT: Over their last 7 games, the Cyclones have killed off 28 of 33 shorthanded situations...an 84.8% kill rate.
