
Goldie Reaches 300 in 5-3 Aces Win

Wes Goldie had a two-goal night, including his milestone 300th ECHL goal to help the Alaska Aces come back for a 5-3 win over the Elmira Jackals met on Friday night from the First Arena in Elmira, NY. Goldie's pair begun a four-goal third period, and lifted the Aces to a two-game split with Elmira. The Aces improved to 10-5-1 on the year, and 7-2 on the road this season. Alaska will now head to Trenton on Saturday night with their first ever meeting with the Devils as they continue their season-long road trip. After a scoreless opening period, the Aces and Jackals traded early second period goals. Yannick Tifu got the scoring started with a wrist shot from the top of the right circle just 16 seconds into the period to make it 1-0 Elmira. The Aces answered when a Scott Howes shot was tipped in by Chris Langkow at 2:07 to tie the score. The Jackals reclaimed the lead with a late goal when Dustin Cameron scored on a backhand from the just outside the top of the crease at 16:33. The Jackals took a 2-1 lead into the final period.
Goldie tied the game just 42 seconds into the third period, and then gave the Aces their first lead at 3:42 with his 300th in the ECHL. Goldie became the seventh player in league history to score 300 goals. Zach Harrison then scored on a shorthanded breakaway to make it 4-2. After the Jackals made it 4-3 on a Brad Miller goal, the Aces sealed it with an empty net, shorthanded goal from Steve Ward to secure the win.
Adam Courchaine (3-1) made 32 saves on 35 shots in the win. Marco Cousineau (6-2-4) took the loss, with 27 saves on 31 shots. The Aces power play went 0-2, while the Jackals went 0-5. The Aces were outshot by the Jackals 35-32 in the game.
The Aces will continue their eight-game road trip with a Saturday night visit to the Trenton Devils. The game can be heard back in Anchorage on NewsTalk 750AM KFQD, beginning at 2:45pm.
