December 2, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs announced Friday that forward Bryn Chyzyk and defensemen Nick Mattson and Jonathan Carlsson have been reassigned to the ECHL's Indy Fuel. In addition, the Fuel announced that defenseman Zach Miskovic has been activated off injured reserve. All four players are expected to be in the lineup Friday as Indy hosts the Cincinnati Cyclones at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Chyzyk, 24, has appeared in a pair of games with the IceHogs this season, recording five shots and a +1 rating. The University of North Dakota product from Virden, Manitoba has two assists in nine games played with Indy, both tallied in his Fuel debut on Oct. 29 against the Allen Americans.
Mattson, 25, has appeared in each of the Fuel's 18 games this season, posting seven assists. As a rookie, the fellow North Dakota graduate and native of Chanhassen, Minn. split time between the Fuel and IceHogs last year, picking up one goal and six assists in 17 AHL games, in addition to one goal and 14 assists in 48 ECHL contests. A sixth-round selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (No. 180 overall), Mattson recorded 78 points (17g, 61a) in 153 career NCAA games with North Dakota.
Carlsson, 28, has suited up in all 18 games for the Fuel this year, leading all Indy defensemen with eight points (1g, 7a). The native of Uppsala, Sweden appeared in 25 contests for the IceHogs in 2015-16, tallying two goals and seven assists, before adding a goal in a pair of Calder Cup Playoff appearances. A 2008 sixth-round pick of the Blackhawks (No. #162 overall), Carlsson has 10 points (3g, 7a) in 44 career AHL games, which includes a stint with the IceHogs in 2009-10.
Miskovic returns to the Fuel's active roster after missing the previous 15 games. Indy's captain sustained a lower-body injury in the club's 6-1 loss to the Tulsa Oilers back on Oct. 21.
