December 2, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The visiting Cincinnati Cyclones halted a 6-game winless streak and handed the Indy Fuel their third consecutive setback on home ice in a 5-1 triumph Friday night at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum before a crowd of 3,335.
The Cincinnatians struck with a pair of goals in each of the initial two periods, building an insurmountable 4-1 after 40-minutes.
After falling behind 2-0 when the Cyclones scored twice two-minutes apart late in period one, the Fuel appeared to climb back into contention when center Anthony Beauregard made connection on his 5th goal of the season, early in the second period at the 1:46 mark, reducing the deficit to 2-1. However, the Cyclones returned fire four minutes later on a Colin Mulvey unassisted goal which came as a result of a Fuel turnover directly in front of their goal. Cincinnati was to respond, again, 1:29 later on a Peter LeBlanc strike as the Indy deficit grew to 4-1.
Cincinnati outshot the Fuel, 37-26 with Mike Houser gaining the victory in goal for the Cyclones while Jake Hildebrand absorbed the loss for the Fuel.
Following a 6-game win streak, Indy is now 4(0-3-1) over the last 4-games as their record falls to 19(8-9-2) for 18-points and fifth place in the Central Division.
As for the Cyclones, they improve their season log also to 19(8-9-2) 18-points and fifth place in the South Division.
Straight ahead for the Fuel will be 5-consecutive games on the road, beginning next Wednesday morning, December 7th, an 11:00 am face-off against the Brampton Beast. Broadcast time is 10:45 am on CBS Sports 1430.
Next Home Game: Saturday, December 17 vs. Quad City Mallards - 7:35 p.m. (Teddy Bear Toss) The fur is ready to fly again during one of the most exciting promotions of the season! Bring new and gently used stuffed animals to the game, then throw your plush projectiles onto the ice after the Fuel score their first goal!
