Yesterday

Chris Leveille- who scored what proved to be the game winner- and Brandon Marino provided a goal and an assist apiece as the host Beast jumped out to a 3-0 lead before holding off a Mallard comeback bid propelled by goals from Michael Parks, Alex Gudbranson and Jack Nevins on the way to a 4-3 victory.

Streak

Yesterday's loss ended the Mallards' three-game winning streak.

Stop Sign

With yesterday's loss, the Mallards came up one game short of matching their longest winning streak of the season. They won four straight games between October 21 and October 29.

Central

In the wake of yesterday's loss, the Mallards remain one point ahead of the Fort Wayne Komets in third place in the Central Division.

Slow Start

The Mallards yesterday gave up the first two Brampton goals- to Jordan Henry and Marino- just one and minute and two seconds apart in the first period. David Pacan capped off the opening period Beast onslaught that Henry began at the 5:18 mark by scoring the third Brampton goal in a span of five minutes and nine seconds at 10:27.

Third

The Mallards came up just short yesterday despite twice narrowing the Brampton lead to one in the third period on goals by Gudbranson and Nevins. Over their last two games, the Mallards have scored six third period goals and surrendered only one.

Tight

Yesterday's defeat was just the Mallards' second regulation loss in eight one-goal games this season. They are now 5-2-1 in games decided by a single goal.

Trailer

The Mallards have fallen behind in each of their last three games. The Mallards battled back to win 4-3 in a shootout last Friday on home ice against Indy and 6-2 last Saturday in Fort Wayne before yesterday's comeback bid fell short. The Mallards allowed the first goal in each of those three contests.

Shooting Gallery

The Mallards fell yesterday despite outshooting Brampton 35-22 for the game and 27-6 over the final two periods. The Mallards allowed just three Beast shots in each of the final two periods.

Wake-up Call

The Mallards yesterday lost a morning game in Brampton for the second time in three seasons. The Beast won 5-2 when the two clubs faced off on the morning of February 23, 2015.

Three-in-Three

Tonight's game is the second of three in three days for the Mallards. Tomorrow night in Toledo, the Mallards will complete their second stretch of three games in three days this season. The Mallards will play three times in as many days a total of seven times this season.

On the Road

The Mallards tonight play the third of four straight road games. They have gone 1-1-0 over the first two games of that stretch.

Despite yesterday's loss, the Mallards still boast a better record on the road (6-4-0) than at home (4-3-1).

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards next play at home next Wednesday night against the Kalamazoo Wings. The Mallards moved over .500 on home ice with a victory- last Friday over Indy in a shootout- in their last home outing.

Red Light District

The Mallards were held to three goals yesterday after scoring at least four times in each of their prior three games while winning each of those three contests. They rank twentieth in the ECHL in goals per game (2.8).

Stingy

The Mallards are tied for third in the ECHL in goals against (2.7 per game). The Mallards gave up four goals yesterday after conceding three or fewer in 14 of their prior 17 games .

Parks and Wreck

Parks has scored three times- and added an assist- in his last three games and scored five goals and totaled seven points in his last seven games.

Triple Play

Like Parks, Nevins has scored in each of the Mallards' last three games. Nevins has broken loose over those three tilts after going without goal in his first eight games.

Warning Sign

Sam Warning's four-game point-scoring streak (3-3-6) ended yesterday.

Between the Pipes

Adam Vay made 18 saves while suffering the loss in goal yesterday. C.J. Motte ranks second in the ECHL in save percentage (.939), ranks fourth in goals against average (2.03) and is tied for eighth in wins (7). Motte has won seven of his last eight starts.

Special Teams

The Mallards went 0-for-4 on the power play yesterday and have now failed to convert their last 13 man advantages over three games. They rank thirteenth in the ECHL on the power play (17.6 percent). The Mallards survived both Brampton advantages yesterday and have now killed off their foes' last nine power plays over three games. They rank tenth in the league in penalty killing (86.2).

Head-to-Head

Tonight's game is the second and final meeting between the Mallards and Beast this season. The two clubs did not play each other last season. The Mallards went 7-5-3 overall and 3-1-3 on the road against the Beast in 2014-15. That season was the first ECHL campaign for both clubs. All-time, between the ECHL and the Central Hockey League, the Mallards have gone 14-9-6 against the Beast overall and 8-3-4 in Brampton.

Forward Chris Francis missed yesterday's game (lower body injury)...Defenseman Dylan Labbe has missed the Mallards' last three games (lower body injury)...Defenseman Donnie Harris has missed the Mallards' last four games after being placed on 21-day injured reserve retroactive to November 20 (upper body injury).
