Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem Dash are proud to announce that NBA All-Star and former Wake Forest All-American Chris Paul will appear at BB&T Ballpark on Friday, June 24. The first 1,500 fans who attend this 7 p.m. game against Wilmington will receive a mini ball, co-branded with the logos of the Dash and Paul's official charity-the Chris Paul Family Foundation.
Paul will begin the game's festivities by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at approximately 6:45 p.m. He will also sign 25 basketballs that will be raffled off to fans in attendance. Each raffle ticket is $5, and all proceeds will go to the Chris Paul Family Foundation.
Tickets start as low as $8 when purchased in advance, and the game precedes a fireworks display, presented by NC By Train. For your tickets, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com. Every ticket purchased from June 14 through the day of the game will result in a $1 donation to the Chris Paul Family Foundation.
A graduate of West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, Paul earned North Carolina's Mr. Basketball after his senior season, during which West Forsyth went 27-3. In his two seasons at Wake Forest, Paul led the Demon Deacons to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, including a spot in the Sweet 16 in 2004. Early in the 2004-05 campaign, Wake Forest was the number one team in the nation for the first time in school history.
Paul entered the 2005 NBA Draft, and the New Orleans Hornets made him the fourth overall selection. During his 11 seasons in the NBA, Paul is a nine-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA First Team performer. He has led the league in steals six times and assists four times.
In addition to his incredible work on the floor, Paul has created one of the most impactful foundations among professional athletes. The Chris Paul Family Foundation strives to positively impact individuals and families by leveling the playing field in education, sports and life. Created in 2005 by Paul and his family, the Foundation provides resources that enrich and strengthen healthy development of strong communities. Paul's grandfather and the city of Winston-Salem provided much of the motivation for the Foundation. The Chris Paul Family Foundation's website is available here.
The Winston-Salem Dash are the Class A-Advanced minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To purchase tickets and for more information, please call (336) 714-2287 or visit www.wsdash.com.
