Chihuahuas Fall 6-3 in Tacoma Monday
Published on April 12, 2016 under Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
El Paso Chihuahuas News Release
Former El Paso Chihuahuas' and San Diego Padres' pitcher Donn Roach threw 5.2 innings for Tacoma on Monday night and allowed only two runs in the Rainiers' 6-3 win over the Chihuahuas. El Paso starter Greg Reynolds surrendered three earned runs in 3.2 innings in his Chihuahuas debut.
For the second game in a row, the Chihuahuas scored first, with Monday's opening run coming when Alex Dickerson hit a solo home run to right field. El Paso's lead slipped away when Tacoma compiled three runs on five hits in the bottom of the third, an inning that ended when Manuel Margot threw out Mike Zunino trying to score from second base on a single.
An RBI single in the sixth by James Loney and a solo home run by Carlos Asuaje in the seventh got the Chihuahuas within one run, but the club left Jemile Weeks at third in the eighth after his leadoff triple, squandering a chance to tie the game.
Tacoma took advantage of three walks issued by the El Paso bullpen in the eighth and scored two insurance runs. Eleven of the last 12 runs scored against El Paso came with two outs.
