
Chihuahuas Even Series with 5-2 Win

El Paso, TX - The Chihuahuas plated all five of their runs over the first three frames while starting pitcher Ryan Carpenter and the bullpen held the Isotopes to just one tally over the final six innings to even the series at two games apiece with a 5-2 triumph over Albuquerque Friday night at Southwest University Park.
Topes Scope: - With the loss, the Isotopes two-game winning streak comes to an end (tied for season high, three times). The club hasn't won three-straight since claiming the final three contests over Oklahoma City to end the 2023 season.
-The Isotopes fall to 0-3 when holding a lead in a series, all coming against El Paso. Albuquerque also dropped the contest on April 19, 9-3, with a 2-1 series advantage and April 21, 5-3, with a 3-2 series lead.
-Both starting pitchers completed at least 6.0 innings, the second time this year both starters tallied 6.0-plus frames (other: May 4 vs. Round Rock; Josh Rogers, 7.0 IP, and Gerson Garabito, 6.0 IP).
-The Isotopes bullpen did not surrender a run for the fifth time this season and first since April 30 vs. Round Rock.
-Albuquerque used just two pitchers on the night, the first time the club has needed just two arms to complete a game since Aug. 20, 2023, vs. El Paso (Jeff Criswell, 7.0 IP; Nick Kennedy, 1.1 IP).
-Rogers and reliever Criswell combined to walk just one Chihuahua hitter, tied for the second-fewest on the year (also: April 28 vs. Oklahoma City).
-Over the Isotopes last seven losses, Albuquerque is a combined 9-for-57 (.157) with runners in scoring position.
-Albuquerque stole three bases tonight (Julio Carreras, two; Aaron Schunk), the third-straight game the club has swiped multiple bags in a contest, tied for the longest such streak on the year (twice, last: April 28-May 1). Over the first four games of the set, the Isotopes are a 13-for-13 in stolen base attempts.
-Albuquerque tallied just two extra-base hits. It's the 7th time the club has registered two or fewer (last: May 4 vs. Round Rock, one). In those seven contests, the Isotopes are 0-7.
-The 2:19 time of game is the third-fastest contest of the year (fastest: April 5 at Oklahoma City, 2:01.
-Albuquerque was held to two runs or fewer for the eighth time this year (last: May 4 vs. Round Rock, one).
-The Isotopes offense struck out six times on the night, ending a four-game streak with double-digit punchouts, its second-longest such streak of the year (longest: seven, April 6-13).
-Willie MacIver recorded his third three-hit game of the year (last: April 12 vs. Sugar Land), including mashing his second homer of the season. He has two-straight multi-hit games for the first time since Sept. 8-10, 2023, two hits each contest.
-Rogers has completed 5.0-plus innings in five-straight starts for the first time since Sept. 2023 with Triple-A Jacksonville. -Jimmy Herron's 23 game on-base streak came to an end after an 0-for-4 night. During the streak he slashed .302/.396/.465 with three doubles, one triple, three homers, 14 walks and 17 RBI. It was the third-longest on-base streak in the Pacific Coast League in 2024. Additionally, his eight-game hitting streak also ended (second-longest of year: 14, March 31-April 28).
-Julio Carreras connected on a double and also drove in a run. He has five RBI over his last four games after tallying four in his first 28 contests.
-Hunter Stovall registered two hits, his second multi-hit game of the season (last: April 25 vs. Oklahoma City, five). He has yet to record an extra-base hit in seven games played.
-Aaron Schunk tallied a hit and stole his ninth bag of the year. He has swiped a bag in three-straight games (four) for the first time in his career. Is 7-for-14 over his last three contests with two doubles, two RBI and two homers.
On Deck: The Isotopes and Chihuahuas meet for game three of the series tomorrow at 6:35 pm from Southwest University Park. The Isotopes are expected to send Karl Kauffmann to the hill while El Paso is scheduled to start Nolan Watson.
