Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees dominated the Sacramento River Cats on Friday evening, powering their way to a 9-1 victory. The Bees evenly split their nine runs into the final three Salt Lake frames.
Brett Kerry (W, 1-0) shined on the hill for the Bees, putting in 8.0 innings of work, allowing just three hits, and one run while striking out four. Kerry was untouchable through most of the game, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning before David Villar singled to break up the bid. Kerry's eight complete innings matches his career-high that he set with Rocket City on July 26, 2023, at the Mississippi Braves. Sacramento's starter, Landen Roupp put in four scoreless innings for the River Cats, but out of the bullpen, Tanner Andrews (L, 1-2) allowed nine Salt Lake runs to score while Cody Stashak gave up three.
Neither team was able to push across any runs until the later innings as Elliot Soto sliced a one-out triple to left field in the sixth inning, scoring Jack Lopez and Jordyn Adams while racing around third to score after a throwing error.
Salt Lake continued to put pressure on the Sacramento pitching staff, plating another trio of runs in the seventh inning. After a leadoff walk from Charles Leblanc and a single by Chad Wallach which advanced Leblanc to third, Bryce Teodosio extended the lead to four with a soft infield single to the River Cats pitcher. With two outs, Adams smashed a ground-rule double to dead center field, giving the Bees a 6-0 advantage. The River Cats scratched across their first run of the game after Brett Wisley drove in Luis Matos from third with a sacrifice fly. The Bees put the game away with another three-run frame as Chad Wallach, Bryce Teodosio, and Jack Lopez all singled to drive in a run, stretching the lead to 9-1. Bryan Shaw entered in relief in the ninth inning, striking out one and putting together a strong 1-2-3 inning.
The Bees battle the River Cats for game five of the six-game series tomorrow evening with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. MT. Houston Harding is set to make his third Salt Lake start while Tommy Romero will pitch for Sacramento.
