Chiefs' Win Streak Extends to Five at Seattle on Tuesday

The Spokane Chiefs extended their season-high win streak to five games with a 4-2 victory against the Seattle Thunderbirds in Kent, Wash. on Tuesday night. Team-leading scorer Adam Beckman led the offense with a goal and two assists.

The Thunderbirds struck first midway through the first as defenseman Tyrel Bauer powered a one-timer from the point after a clean faceoff win to the left of Spokane goalie Campbell Arnold.

Beckman capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play just over three minutes later to even things for Spokane. The Minnesota Wild prospect slammed in a feed from linemate Bear Hughes, who found a rebound of his own shot to create the scoring opportunity.

Chiefs forward Eli Zummack extended his goal streak to four games and point streak to seven with a slapshot goal on man advantage at 17:01 of the second. Hughes again earned the primary assist with a perfect cross-zone feed.

Spokane made it 3-1 with only 27 seconds remaining in the middle stanza as Michael King crashed the net and got a stick on a Matt Leduc shot for his fifth of the year. Recently acquired winger Leif Mattson earned his first point as a Chief with the set-up pass for Leduc's clapper.

The hosting Thunderbirds would not quit, however, scoring on a power play 6:04 into the third period as Matthew Rempe caused a ruckus in front and was able to direct the puck inside the right post.

The Spokane defense clamped down from there, holding Seattle off the scoresheet again before Beckman slid his second of the night into an empty net to seal it.

The win marks Spokane's fifth in a row (5-0-1-0 over their last six) and pushes their record to a perfect 16-0 when scoring four or more goals.

Arnold finished with 19 saves on 21 shots faced in the win while Seattle's Roddy Ross turned aside 27 of 30 sent his way. Spokane finished 2-for-7 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

These two teams will face each other again on Saturday night, again in Kent.

The Chiefs will continue their five-game road trip bracketing the mid-season holiday break on Saturday back in Kent in a rematch with the Thunderbirds. Mike Boyle will have the radio call on 94.1 FM The Bear with the pre-game show at 5:30 and puck drop at 6 p.m.

Spokane next returns home on Saturday, December 28 to host Tri-City. It will be Coeur d'Alene Casino Family Feast Night with fans able to purchase a variety of discounted concessions throughout the game all along the main concourse.
