Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets, and the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and Syracuse Crunch, announced today that the Employer's Medical Access Partnership (E.MAP) has joined as a sponsor for the 2008-09 season.

E.MAP is a business coalition that serves employers in Cambria, Somerset, Blair, Bedford and Indiana counties that was founded in 1999. The coalition was formed to help combat rising health insurance costs in the area, and after taking proposals from all of the region's health care providers formed a partnership with UPMC Health Plan. That partnership allowed area businesses to offer affordable healthcare to their employees without much financial strain.

"The Chiefs are an important part of our community," said Jack Babich, E.MAP president and AmeriServ Financial senior vice president. "E.MAP is proud to support such a great regional entertainment source. It's part of our mission to invest back into the local business community and to be involved in endeavors that help keep our local economy strong."

E.MAP serves more than 750 area employers who benefit from discounted pricing and multi-year rate guarantees for health insurance through UPMC Health Plan. The coalition uses strength in numbers to negotiate preferred pricing on behalf of its membership.
