
Fresno Beats Phoenix In 20-Round Shootout

PHOENIX - Fresno beat Phoenix 3-2 on Wednesday in a shootout that lasted
20 rounds which is the second longest in league history.
The ECHL record for longest shootout is 21 rounds between Hampton Roads
and Birmingham on Oct. 16, 1992. Birmingham won 7-6 when Brett Barnett,
their 21st shooter, scored.
The Falcons won 6-5 in the shootout when Spencer
Carbery scored and rookie goaltender Michael
Ouzas stopped Phoenix's Michael
Wilson. It was the second shootout attempt for Carbery, who had missed
in the 10th round, and Wilson, who did not score in the seventh round.
Ouzas stopped the last eight shooters he faced and 15-of -20 overall while
Phoenix's Gerald
Coleman stopped 14 of 20 shooters.

Eizenman scored for Fresno in the shootout.
Rob
Dmytruk scored twice in the shootout for Phoenix, finding the net in
the first round and the 12th round, while Matt
Fornataro, Ashton
Rome and Daniel
Sisca also scored for the RoadRunners.
The game was tied 1-1 after the first period and neither team scored in
the second. Phoenix took a 2-1 lead at 1:13 of the third period on a
shorthand goal by Gino
Guyer and led until five seconds remaining when Matt
Stefanishion scored to force overtime.
Following a scoreless overtime period that saw the RoadRunners outshoot
Fresno 5-2 and be on the power play for the final minute the contest went
to the shootout.
