Spokane Chiefs News Release

The Spokane Chiefs have traded goaltender Gerry Festa to the Red Deer Rebels for Red Deer's fourth round selection in today's WHL Bantam Draft. Festa, who was acquired from the Calgary Hitmen in January, will be entering his 20-year-old season in the WHL next year.

"We appreciate what Gerry contributed to the Chiefs this season," General Manager Tim Speltz stated.

The Chiefs used the selection to pick local forward Evan Witt, a Spokane American Youth Hockey Association product who played last season for the Under-16 Midget team.

"Jim Watt will be our starter next season and the fourth round pick had great value this season with the selection of Witt," Speltz finished.

Festa appeared in 47 games with Spokane and Calgary last season, posting a 2.56 GAA, .909 save percentage and 24-16-5-2 record. In 15 decisions as a Chief, Festa was 6-6-1-2.
